Top Fuel Drag racing is one of the most expensive, ruthless, and quickets races in the world. For a run to go "smoothly" every aspect of the car has to be prfect. If not, things blow up, and half of the engine is shot up into the air as nitromethane creates a fire ball around the car. These cars reach speeds of over 300 miles per hour in around 4 seconds. The driver expeireicnes 6g's at initial acceration, and - 6g's when deploing the parachuets for breaking. The top fuel dragsters accelerates quicker than any other land vehicle on earth, quicker than a jet fighter plane and quicker than the space shuttle.

Engine
A 500 cubic inch Hemi powers the drag car. Its fuel electronically injected with pumps that spray nitromethane like a garden hose sprays water. Bolted to the top of the engine is a screw super charger. It uses internal screws to ram 3000 CFM of air into the engine. The fuel is then mixed with and compressed into a near-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock at full throttle and burn 11.2 gallons a minute. (hydro lock is where there is more fuel then the engine can burn, so the cylinders destroy themselves).
Note: The white flame is water vapor in the air being dissociated and the the hydrogen burning white.
Also the magnetos that power the spark plugs put 44 amps to each spark plug. You could use this same power to weld.

Overall, the physics of the dragster is mind boggling, it accelerates faster then anything else on land, it produces more horsepower then a 747 jet, and can destroy itself at any second. The engine has to be rebuilt after every run and tested. The tires will maybe last 10 times down the track, the clutch welds itself together mid run, and it vaporizes the air around it. Acceleration through internal combustion in this magnitude is very temper mental and inefficient . It shows that for light speed and travel to distant places and planets with efficiency, internal combustion will not be in that future.
